Fall in Love with Tucson

It's finally Fall in Tucson! The weather is cooling down, which means more hours of the day to enjoy our outstanding outdoor environment (no more hiding in the air-conditioning). This time of the year is undoubtedly the best for outdoor adventurers or even those wanting to explore more of the city. With the scorching heat behind us, Tucson's gorgeous fall weather means more fun for everyone.

Coronado National Forest

The massive Coronado National Forest stretches across sixteen mountain ranges, called "sky islands" because they shoot out of the sky. Visitors will enjoy spectacular views of mountains and can walk through some of Southern Arizona's unique forest environments. This is an excellent spot for camping, hiking, and birdwatching enthusiasts.

Dusk Music Festival

Dusk Music Festival is one of Tucson's biggest events of the year, hosted in the beautiful Armory Park right in downtown Tucson. Tap into local culture, enjoy mouth-watering street food, shop with local vendors, and enjoy the big-name artists who've come down. The music genres are a blend of hip-hop, R&B, electronic dance, indie pop, and indie rock. This festival is family-friendly, and kids under 10 get free entry.

Mount Lemmon

Start your day on the Mount Lemmon Scenic Byway, considered one of the most scenic drives in southeast Arizona. The road will take you to the higher elevation of Mount Lemon and the Santa Catalina Range. Besides being an incredible drive, excellent hiking and mountain biking trails are scattered throughout the region. Remember to bring a jacket, because the temperature will drop quickly as you climb in elevation.

Toy Train Show

If you're looking for a quieter activity and to see some jaw-dropping collections of trains and other items, head over to the annual Toy Train Show. It's held in the Gadsden-Pacific Division Toy Train Operating Museum parking lot Sunday, November 13, from 9-2 pm.

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

While called a museum, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum more closely resembles a zoo. It's home to animals, a botanical garden, an aquarium, and an art gallery. The attraction is great at all times of the year but becomes even more enjoyable for visitors, especially children when the heat has died off. Set aside a few hours to stroll the grounds, and take in the 1,200 local plant species as 230 animal residents.

Annual Fall Artisans Market

Every year the Tucson Museum of Art hosts a Fall Artisan Market that brings together local artisans. Check out their unique designs and handcrafted items. You'll find gorgeous jewelry, sparkling blown glass, artwork, handwoven textiles, and more. With the holiday season right around the corner, it's the perfect opportunity to find some one-of-a-kind gifts while supporting local artisans. Show up hungry because there will also be many tasty food vendors scattered throughout the market. The event will be open from Friday to Sunday, November 18 to 20, from 10-5 pm.

Tucson Turkey Trot 5K

Start your Thanksgiving off on the right foot (or left) with a family-friendly Turkey Trot. There's a timed 5K run in the morning for the more competitive athletes. Otherwise, enjoy a fun, untimed run or Kids Division Fun Run.
