Tucson is experiencing a wave of new business openings that are not just diversifying the city's economic landscape but also adding zest and vivacity. From local eateries to specialty fitness centers, these new establishments mirror the resurgence and cultural vitality that new businesses bring to urban centers. It’s fantastic to see new businesses and new investment in our city.
Here's a closer look at some of the new businesses that are reshaping Tucson's landscape.
Move Cycle Studio
The first business to make its mark is Move Cycle Studio, a stationary cycling fitness center that recently opened its doors. Unlike a traditional gym, Move Cycle Studio offers 45-minute cycle classes and a unique meditative experience in a dark, calming environment. This addition to Tucson's fitness scene provides an innovative blend of physical and mental wellness, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for residents.
Comida Park
Food lovers have a new reason to celebrate with the opening of Comida Park in February 2023. Located at the Tanque Verde Swap Meet on Tucson’s southeast side, Comida Park is a gastronomic paradise with the name encompassing what the experience is all about. With up to 40 different food trucks, cold drinks, shaded seating areas, and live music, it’s a haven for foodies. The vibrant atmosphere and culinary diversity here contribute to the community in much the same way unique dining experiences have rejuvenated Downtown Toledo. There’s something for everyone at Comida Park, making it a great spot for a family outing.
Rollie's Heads West
Rollie's, a well-loved Tucson food institution, made a significant move by establishing its new location in MSA Annex in November 2022. The food truck is now a permanent fixture, offering a culinary blend of Sonora Mexico cuisine that adds a rich texture to the food scene, complementing other food and drink tenants like Kukai Fresh Japanese Kitchen and Beaut Burger.
Screwbean Coffee
Coffee aficionados have something to cheer about too. Screwbean Brewing Company, which just opened in May of this year, serves house-brewed beers, seltzers, and outstanding coffee. Located at 103 N. Park Ave., Screwbean takes its name from the Screwbean Mesquite native to the Sonoran Desert. What makes this locale particularly charming is its history; the building was once a Chinese market founded nearly a century ago. Now, it's a modern-day taproom that adds to Tucson's eclectic culture.
Chef Brian’s Comfort Kitchen
Reality TV star Brian Hill, who made his name on "Top Chef" Season 1, launched Chef Brian’s Comfort Kitchen in January 2023. Situated on the historic Fourth Ave, the restaurant specializes in comfort food classics such as waffles, home-brewed sweet tea, and collard greens.
New businesses encourage more residents and investment in our city. With this surge of businesses, downtown Tucson looks poised for a bright and prosperous future, invigorated by innovative ventures that reflect the city’s unique blend of cultures and lifestyles. Each establishment brings a unique offering to the table, making Tucson an even more exciting place to live, work, and play.
