The Snowbird Way

The term 'Snowbird' was first used to describe men who enlisted in the army during the winter to get food and clothing and who would later desert when the warmer months arrived. Today, it describes individuals or couples from northern regions who live in their primary residences during the warmer months and then flee to warmer southern climates as winter approaches.

Snowbirds are more often than not retirees or semi-retired, and who have a reasonable degree of financial standing. Therefore, they have the flexibility to live where they please. Some choose to purchase summer homes, others find furnished rentals, and some will even arrive with their RV. But just because they are tired doesn't mean they want to stop living their life to the fullest. That's why they have become sun-seekers and developed a taste for adventure.

Tucson and Oro Valley have evolved into popular destinations for snowbirds to escape their homes for plenty of sunshine. Our region has an incredible amount of outdoor activities, and the winter offers mild weather.

Snowbirds come to Tucson seeking year-round golf, hiking, biking, and the company of other snowbirds.

Oro Valley has become a highly desirable snowbird destination because of its excellent suite of recreation activities. The Oro Valley Community Center makes it easy for residents to participate in golf, swimming, tennis, and more. With daily, weekly, and yearly rates, snowbirds can enjoy minimal commitment, perfect for part-time residents.

Snowbirds inclined to partake in Tucson's historical, cultural, and entertainment scene have plenty to enjoy. In addition, Downtown Tucson has an extensive dining scene with plenty of unique experiences delivered by renowned chefs. Enjoy everything from mouth-watering empanadas to a jaw-dropping epicurean dinner.

The Snowbird Way is all about maximizing your golden years, and Tucson is a hard destination to beat. Daily highs are usually in the sixties to seventies, rainy days are at a minimum, and the Sonoran Desert is at your doorstep.

If you're looking to purchase your winter abode, I'd love to connect and help you discover the perfect Tucson area for your snowbird lifestyle.
